Hoorah - the site is going live tomorrow. We are looking forward to seeing what the combined marketing skills of Gillian and Michele will bring. I know that Gillian has been all over the internet recently, spreading word of the new site.

It’s been good fun getting the mini site up and running…quite a few of the little glitches cracked us up. Especially late at night with a few glasses of jolly old wine inside us. [We are preparing for the festive season now - and why ever not?]. And happily the little glitches are disappearing one by one thanks to the hard work of Gillians team. The site ‘back office’ is wonderfully interactive - and the chaps are very responsive. Thanks all!

At Feelgood Ecobeds we are holding our breath for the go live minute - then we will also be spreading the word far and wide…after all, we want to sell stuff! Now! Or next week will do…

We are now thinking about things that will sell for Christmas...tea light holders being our first thought. Think, act - upload. Right - back to the drawing board for Richard. Back to the computer for me…

At last it feels as if Christmas is coming! I have been working hard making some beautiful one-off  day handbags, evening bags and new silk accessories ready for the exciting Living North Christmas Fair on Thursday 4th November - Sunday 7th November 2010. Christmas is here, well 19 days away, and it feels like the best time to write my first blog. I thought I would explain about what we do.

Bulldog Tools are the last mass manufacturer of spades and forks (and more) in the UK. We are based in Wigan, Lancashire where the forge has been on the same site for over 230 years, in fact this year is our 230th anniversary. Generations of Farmers, Contractors and Professional Landscapers stand testimony to a quality of product upon which their livelihoods depend. The sill and craftmanship that were the key to the company’s success in the those early days are still maintained and are available to you today, in the products you find on this website. 

Our Spades and Forks are most probably the strongest that you can buy. We use high grade sustainably sourced Ash on our tool handles, all of which are turned and manufactured on site at Wigan. This is then coupled with a head made from our unique strength of steel. Our spades and forks are different to many on the market, as we solid forge them from one piece of steel. In simple terms, all of the spade and fork our drawn out of one piece of metal, meaning there is no welds or weak spots, this makes our tools very strong. All of our solid forged products are guaranteed for life, against faulty workmanship.

We test our the strength of our tools on a specially made ‘bend test’ machine, which shows that our tools beat the British Standard for strength every time. All our tools are quality assured at different stages of manufacture to make sure that each Bulldog Tool is up to the high quality you would expect. 

When purchasing a Bulldog Tool you are purchasing something that has been hand made from start to finish, each individually forged spade and fork has slight differences from the next, almost like a finger print. Exhibition season 2011 is well and truly about to kick in for us jewellers!!!

And it begins with…..18-20th November in the Winchester Guildhall at the beautiful Desire Fair, followed by two exhibitions the following two weekends at Hylands House nr. Chelmsford in Essex for the Essex Art and Design Show and then at Cressing Temple for the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity Xmas Fair.
